ABOUT BRING YOUR OWN BIKE

BYOB (Bring Your Own Bike) is a participatory cycling performance series that explores polluted weather as a collective embodied phenomenon. In this cycling experience, participants are invited to pedal through polluted industrial areas with their own bikes, collectively weathering under the guidance of the artist.

A bike is not merely a medium here; it is a speculative tool that fosters the collective embodiment of the weather. By prompting reflection on how our bodies can serve as sensing technology, participants engage in a communal artistic practice that intersects with the environment, socio-political climates, and the human body.

The performance has taken place across industrial sites in Europe and South Korea — ports, refineries, energy infrastructures — each ride shaped by the uneven atmosphere and politics of its location — who breathes what, and where.
